Hi, I need to remove the prop from my Bav 36. I know that I have to remove the hex bolt in the conical spinner and then unscrew the prop. Can anyone tell me which the bolt unscrews and which way the prop unscrews.

Thanks

I have a 120s saildrive and it's a standard allen key needed for the bolt... This then unscrews in the normal way. It is just there to lock the cone shaped part on.

The cone shaped part will then just unscrew (perhaps using a screwdriver through the hole whilst holding the prop still). This unscrews in the normal direction.

The prop will then just pull off the [greased] splines... although remember a washer might be behind it.. catch it before it falls onto the ground!

Refitting is a reverse of the above. Just remember the allen bolt locks the cone on - so it's the cone that needs to be held still (and not the propellor) whilst the allen bolt is tightened. A couple of drops of locktite on the allen bolt threads are all that's needed.

If the splines are greased well and are clean then the prop will come off easily again next time.
