I have AD41B with push in fittings on the aftercooler. I’ve just refitted the aftercoolers following a clean out and repaint but am struggling with the raw water connections.

Each copper pipe has two orings and a flanged plastic retainer, the o-rings sit on the pipe in front of the barb and I assume the retainer goes on the back of the barb which is then secured with the plastic bracket. I assume again, due to lack of space between aftercooler lid and plastic bracket, that the retainers should push into the after cooler lid with just the flange remaining outside to be trapped between lid and bracket… is that correct?

parts listings seem to show it on the same side of the barb but that makes no sense to me. Either way, I don’t seem to be able to push the barb past flush with the lid to allow space for the retainer to be pushed in, couple that with having to get into a horrendous position for access meant it’s beaten me this weekend!

Thanks for your help Paul. Just in case it helps others…

the plastic pipe retainers go on the opposite side of the pipe barb to the cooler lid with the lip against the lid and then they are trapped between the lid and the bracket. Phew!
