Volvo Penta MD22P - marinised?

I've got a Volvo Penta MD22P. Is this likely to be a standard engine that has been marinised? If so, is there any info available on the base engines that VP use?

Think the MD22 was based on the Perkins Prima engine.

Yes, it is the Perkins engine, originally built for use in the BL Montego - but don't let that put you off! The smaller 20 and D1 engines are also Perkins, but Japanese industrial base units.

I've only just noticed that this thread had replies, thank you. I didn't get any notifications.

I think the Austin/Rover 2.0 Litre Diesel Engine Owner's Workshop Manual would be a very useful thing to have.

Engines are pretty bullet proof in this application, except perhaps for the camshaft drive belt which worries some people.

skipperstu (Stu Davies) who posts here regularly is the guru and has written up how to change the belt (and exhaust riser) in PBO.

I also have the MD22 and have the workshop manual as pdf file (4 parts).
If you pm me your email address I can mail them to you.
The Montego workshop manual will cover the engine but not the marinised parts.
