I currently have a diesel leak from my fuel injection pump where part no. 6 screws into part no. 9 on the schematic below, which I'm assuming is because o ring part no. 8 has failed. The assembly is held in place by part no. 11 which is a machine screw which has a five sided head leading me to believe this is probably not a DIY job? The engine has circa 3300 hours and starts on the button with no smoke and minimal oil usage. If its not something I can sensibly undertake myself can you recommend a suitable specialist in the Portsmouth / Southampton area. Parts4Engines sell reconditioned pumps but they are £720! Thanks

Can you not remove the nipple and refit with a new O ring ( £25 ! )

Probably not ........... Volspec list the O ring as "unavaialble"
 
Are you absolutely sure that’s where the leak is? It’s much more common for the leak to be from the union between pump and pipe to injector. It’s a metal to metal join with no o ring or gasket. (Diesel drops down and gives the impression of coming from the o ring you refer to.)
If it’s definitely where you say it is, the pump isn’t too difficult to remove and a specialist diesel workshop should be able to sort out the leak. It’s a Perkins engine rebadged by Volvo.

Thanks but unfortunately I'm sure. I tested where it was coming from several times using the corner of a paper towel and the union above this was completely dry. I've already removed the pump.
 
Just to close this out I went with S&S Diesel Services in Bishops Waltham in the end as they are just down the road from me. They confirmed it was leaking, stripped, rebuilt and tested the pump which including replacing all the o rings / seals for what I thought was a very reasonable £165+VAT. No connection etc
 
Hi, piggy backing on this thread, I have a fuel leak between two of the lines going from the pump to the injectors. I assume one of the fittings is leaking but can't tell which one. Please see videos at the link below.

I have no chance to get to a qualified mechanic so this is going to be a DIY job come what may. Any repair advice gratefully received.

More chance of replies if you start a new thread. Leaks are easily found using coloured tissue, such as pink toilet paper or coloured paper napkins. Start by cleaning and wiping everything round the leak area completely dry. Now start the engine, and using your fancy toilet paper wipe frequently round each suspect joint. Any moisture appearing will immediately show up clearly, darkening the coloured tissue. Any absorbent coloured paper will do.
