Volvo Penta MD2030 anode. Is there one somewhere?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does MD2030D engine has an anode somehere? The manual mentions absolutely nothing. I could guess that it does has one somewhere (internally?) and never needs replacement but is that possible?

If so the only place you might expect to find an anode is in the heat exchanger, sea water side, but there isn't! The design does not need one.

Got em on the saildrive if it's got a sail drive though

Well, there doesn't seem to be one on our VP 2020 either so I guess not. I have seen a web report somewhere that corrosion of the heat exchanger could be rapid without one but ours was removed for de-scaling this year and, at 5 years old, seemed to be in good condition.

Not sail drive but shaft. The only anode on the boat is at the end of the shaft (where the propeller is). Probably that's all it needs. No idea.

The 2030 does not have an anode and like VicS says doesn't need one.

[/ QUOTE ] The engine cooling system should be filled using antifreeze (which contains corrosion inhibitors) or a summer coolant containing corrosion inhibitors where an antifreeze is not needed. That protects the engine itself from corrosion.

The heat exchanger tube nest is presumably made from corrosion resistant alloys and the design of the end caps means the seawater does not come in contact with other metal parts. No anode is therefore necessary in the heat exchanger.

The stern gear is protected by the shaft anode you refer to.
