HELP!
I had a local Co . rebuild my 2010 , new rings, shells ,valves , lift /water pumps , injectors , heat exchanger etc , everything except pistons really .
last week in roughish seas heading into harbour it stopped , and would only run at idle , very rich , lots of black smoke then not at all .
the head was removed and all looks ok , exhaust ports were partially coked up , the engine has only done about 150 hours , so this was odd ?
It appears to have been running very rich and had been blowing some black smoke from the exhaust at 1/2 + throttle ?
I had a thought that the fuel return pipe may be blocked and this could cause excessive fuelling ?
so blew pumped air back through the line , which goes back to the tank , and there was some resistance but it is now clear ,
could this have been the cause of overfuelling ?
The tank breather is all clear too .
One other thing , the lift pump was found to be leaking fuel into the sump and was changed , it took 4 oil changes to be clear of diesel !
The engineer is puzzled and we don,t know where to go next .
I would be grateful for any ideas , suggestions , please ?
