Volvo Penta KAD32 - how to remove starter?

Hi,

I've identified an issue with the starter on my KAD32 and would like to remove it for further inspection. I can access two of the mounting screws, but as far as I know, there's a third one located behind the starter, toward the engine, which isn't visible or easily reachable.

Does anyone have a tip for removing the starter without having to take off the intercooler?

Def possible, engineer removed starter from my KAD by reaching round over past the intercooler

Suspect it’s similar to kad43. Long socket extension and endoscope to help you to line them up.

Just remove the intercooler as the wiring can be tricky and you may end up with shorting connections .

How messy would that be? I mean to remove intercooler?

After further checks, it turned out to be the solenoid.

On the F33, the removal and installation process was fairly straightforward (there is some space to work), so everything is up and running again since yesterday.

I used a 150 mm extension (actually 100 + 50 mm), and while it worked, aligning the starter with the engine block took some time — one side always had a slight gap but, at the end, all was ok .
