When I select forward gear on port engine, there is a 30 second delay before it engages. Reverse is fine and the cables are OK.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.

You say Port-hand engine, which suggests your vessel is twin engine. Assuming as much you are aware the VP MS15A (ZF15MA) is a handed gearbox, ie primary out put is RH (Clockwise if your prefer). Someone hasn't rigged the installation with handed propellers have they? Every chance you have worn the clutch pack out if you say 'reverse' is fine and cable adjustment etc all in spec.

The primary output being the ahead gear, considered the prominent direction of travel/thrust through the gearbox, small mechanical gearboxes such as the 15 operate a multi-plate clutch pack in ahead & astern with astern set being of a (thinking of the best expression...) weaker makeup.

Many thanks for that.
