I have a Beneteau Antares 30 with a 2012 vintage Volvo penta D370 (abt 1600hrs). I recently had the boat serviced including a software upgrade and now on start up when I select the upper helm I get a error triangle and alarm (if I recall correectly only on the upper helm) - all is nomal on the lower helm which is the defult. I can then stop the engine and turn the batteries off then on restart and the upper helm will boot normally and remain normal if started shortly after, but after a few hours after being on anchor had to do the batery off/on again to boot the upper helm. Any ideas what may be wrong and how to fix, seems like it has something to do with the software upgrade as the engine and systems have worked perfectly until now?

Can you give a bit more info on the upgrade? Do you know whether it was just routine updates or was it changing the EVC generation?
Do you know your EVC generation? A serial number would help if you don’t know it
If it’s an early system (up to EVC-C3) then it’s possible that they forgot to get the upstairs units into service mode and so they may not have been programmed with the same updates as downstairs. If that’s the case then the faults will be something along the lines of a communication fault and/or software mismatch
Do you have the actual fault codes?

Thanks, Engine is D63701-E serial no A181164 - seems like I will need to get the mechanic involved to do a rerun of the software or install previous software?
You’ve got EVC-D and so pretty straightforward to program all of the HCU’s as they communicate automatically with the computer and so should have all received the same software update
If you can’t read the codes yourself in the engine display (it’s possible for this EVC generation) then helping remotely is going to be a challenge, so you’ll have to get someone to plug in and see what’s up
