I think you may need to specify what engine series

Hi yes thanks for the suggestion it cant hurt. They are fairly generic but mine is for a 2000 series. But the Md22 is the same style, the 2030 also etc. If it has the bank of warning lights it will do the job.

There was a complete second hand panel for sale on Ebay recently but someone went way beyond my price.

I was looking for a new ACU for my VP MD 20X0 series engine last night.
The volvo part number is [h=1]Volvo Penta 873737 and there is a new number 22354203 for the new LED version. This part was originally made by VDO.. and is pretty common to all the volvo penta control panels.[/h]

I am still hoping to repair mine as I hate spending that sort of money

It could be worse.....

I know typical VP spares prices. Not entirely sure its the control unit, have an intermittent flashing charge light. But she is charging fine. Spoke to an engineer pal who says its quite a common problem. But don't want to spend on a new to find its something else.

Thanks for the pointers!

The older series engines as you say, most of the panels could be utilised, the electronic light and alarm module on mine came from a guy on here who had re engined and was off a 2003 engine. I know my previous 2030 engine panel was the same except it had a button start instead of a key start. So pretty much any of that era panels, would be good.

if its intermittent then it might just be an alternator brushes prob. When mine went it was a permanent allarm and light!

Betamarine actually sell an engine panel complete with rev counter etc and it is easily connected to a vp engine, approx £350
I have been involved with getting a VP MDI issue resolved and it was one of the solutions.

Thanks all for the very helpful comments! The odd part is its a flashing light. They are not supposed to flash ;-) I also thought alternator and had it checked it was fine, had it rebuilt while it was off, belt and braces. The panel is in good order, push button start rather than key. Did an over night to Ireland a few weeks ago and that constant nag winking away at you is very unnerving ;-)

Thanks again!
