I think the reason they had to change the alarm panel for the 20x0 series was the preheating that is required for these models. It would be really annoying to preheat the engine for 10-15 seconds with a beeper screaming in your ears.

My engine is an MD22P-B, and allegedly has pre-heaters. Never used them, engine starts within a second.
