I have an issue with the electronic edc controllers randomly my boat might kick into gear and the motor will rev instantly…this happens very randomly … sometimes months without an issue.
It’s very dangerous especially when berthing or just warning up the engines
They are TAMD122
I’ve read a lot of threads but can’t see this problem specifically
Doing the normal reset may or may not solve the issue
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Experienced a couple of cases with similar symthoms, imprecise gearshifts, refusing to go out of gear combined with strange throttle behaviour that after a bit trial and error replacing/ switching components between port and starboard engine turned out to be faulty microswitch inside the gear lever and in the other case also a erratic potmeter.

If you have two helms, does the same occur from both stations?

There was a campaign from Volvo on this many years ago , some boats were prone to it some were not .
Volvo introduced an SPM unit Signal Processing Module that plugged into the edc loom at the throttles , unfortunately it’ is not available at this present time due to typical Volvo parts sourcing and manufacturing companies not supplying old designed parts, a bit like the edc control modules.
