I have Volvo Penta TAMD 63P engines with twin station Volvo Penta EC Controls with one stick controlling gear selection and RPM, so twin engines two sticks fro saloon and flybridge. The Boat was built in 2001. These controls are also used on the 70 series and other engines in the range.
These are now out of production and hard to find bits. However they are very sensitive and easy to use being finger touch, I like them.
I recently had a problem where my starboard engine was not selecting gear or revving when it should manifested by max RPM being 2300 against 2700 for a time and later clearing and operating to full RPM then later date same RPM fault and then same voyage putting stick to neutral but remaining in gear ahead and not going into neutral until one click backwards past the neutral position.
Anyhow I got my local Volvo Penta engineer down and we did tests on the mooring on both engines and both sets of controls, all ok except saloon starboard engine, fault lights were showing.
The selection position on the throttle spindle is detected by a a potentiometer Volvo Penta part no 1336385 which the engineer recognised as being the same as used in the early Volvo Penta KAD series throttles, the engineer the dealer he worked for had some in stock , he changed it for a new one and recalibrated it and it works fine now.
