I have a question regarding DP-E drives - I have a pair of later version DPE’s to replace some badly overhauled older ones and noticed the cavitation plate exhaust outlets have changed design. The earlier ones had 2 outlets with rubber non return flaps and the later versions I have are different with a single exhaust outlet and no flaps. The subsequent exhaust noise is much louder than before and wondered if anyone knew why VP changed the design and if I am at risk of water going back up without the flaps? Many thanks for any help in anticipation.

Hi, thanks for the reply. No nothing missing I believe, just a different design.

Not seen that design before on a dpe drive, it looks like it doesn't require the rubber flap, so as you have said a different design that prevents water back feeding. Hopefully someone like Volvopaul can comment.

My 2003 DP-E's didn't have any exhaust flaps on them at all.
I don't think they helped anything much on earlier versions.

"Not slowing down too quickly" is a good idea, whatever you have.

Thanks, I’m very conscious of not slowing too quickly and less worried about that. The main issue I have noticed is the louder exhaust note; you can reduce the noise by trimming up but these DP-E’s are noticeably louder than the earlier design with the two exhaust outlets.
