Volvo Penta - Do you have crazed instrument Glass?

Wema make rev counter that fits as a replacement for the aqad31 has hour meter but bezel has rounded edge about £80, does not look out of place in volvo panel

I started this thread some years ago.

I now need new lenses again. The original supplies no longer does them, but there are some on line for £15 ish for the smaller ones and no doubt more for the bigger.

My web search found some people refusing VDO gauges and mentioning glass lenses on ebay.

These are cheap. However the last ones i got were double glazed ( 2 bits of plastic) and were very difficult to fit - personally i would say they were out of size by whatever of a mm. I think in the end i did not fit the double part as i could not seal the unit back up .

I wondered what the view was on using glass?

I suspect it conduct heat / cold better so may have more condensation issues?

Wondered what peoples views were? Certainly if the last ones i got were anything to go by I dont really want to try to fit them again!

they are double glazed

you can remove the lens by levering it out with a shap tool

then split the lenses and chuck the front section
insert the rear section and its as good as new, but not double glazed

not sure what the long term implication is, depends on how wet your boat is ?

Has anyone found a supplier of the replacement lens for the Volvo Penta Tachometer, 85 mm. Part no. 881647?

Mine crazed badly with less than 10 engine hrs.

The last time I did this I bought some end of line gauges off eBay (they were new) and cannibalised them. I could find no source of the lens only at that time.

I may find at Replacement Gauge Lens some 85 mm and 52 mm gauge lens . Somebody knows how to remove the crazed lens ? After bezel removal , lens seems to be glue .

I saw a message on the internet about replacing the lens on the gauges. I have a boat where the glass on my gauges is completely fogged up. You can't see through it anymore. It's Volvo Penta. Can you supply these lenses? Regards Henk
