Hi ,
I have a 2005 fairline targa 40 , with volvo penta d6-350 ’s fitted , I keep it well serviced ,and looked after
but I came to use it after a winter break and the std engine will not rev after the first click forward , but works perfectly in reverse and if you press the neutral button then move the lever forward the engine revs upto the neutral rev limit .
I have had a trim tab indicator cable replaced which runs near the throttle levers around the engines , I have checked the connections on the back of the throttle levers they appear ok
has anybody else had this problem before ?
any advice \ ideas will be appreciated
many thanks
Simon

A lever calibration would be my first suggestion-this is easily done yourself, and if you can confirm the engine s/n the Lyn I can send the instructions. If you’ve got a pair of D buttons and an N then it’s EVC A or B, if it’s got a central dial-wheel then it’s C.
Boost sensors can play up which can cause funny behaviour like this, but the symptoms don’t exactly match
Finally I think I’m right in saying that if the system doesn’t see an in-gear signal then it won’t rev up. If your gear shift actuator isn’t quite making it to its forward gear position then you may well get the current behaviour, which does match better because you can obtain reverse. A recalibrated lever might solve this and it only takes a minute so easy to do

Thanks Andy,
The evc has a n & 2 x d buttons , i dont have the serial no here i will have to send it you when i get to the boat
I tried a new boost sensor but it made no difference

it goes into forward gear when you move the lever to the first forward click as you push the lever past instantly it revs a couple hundred rpm then wont go any higher , if the lever is pushed further forward , it makes a similar noise when you get to the limit in neutral
