Hi All

I wish to change the engine pencil anodes whilst boat is afloat. Is this possible?

hi chi, changing pencil anodes no proplem drain sea water from system use drain taps take out plug and anode change anode and re fit plug be carefull not to cross thread the plug start engine check for leaks usually takes about 45 mins.

I just need to know if i will get an ingress of sea water from either of the locations if changed whilst boat in the water? Sterndrive model DPH

I used to change mine on a D6. Undo it, stuff something in the hole to stem the flow ( bit of kids swimming noodle was the favourite). Clean off the remains of the old anode, screw on a new on and put if back in.

You will get a small amount of water in the boat, but nothing a sponge can't solve.
 
hi chi , you should not because engines are above waterline if you are worried shut off sea cocks,you are only draining sea water from heat exchanger at the rear and sea water that is in the pipe work above the water pump

bluejasper2. As boat is on outdrives , no seacock on inlets. Sure i will manage as above.
