hello to all,
I have a problem with my D3 190 a-c (port side) engine.
It starts great, idles perfect, no smoke.
at the dock and at sea it accelerates and when it goes over 1500 a few seconds after it studders and can’t get it over 1500.
I replaced both filters and all brand new fuel supply lines and swapped between engines
map sensor, low pressure fuel pump (mounted on the fuel pump) turbos , vacuum pumps, turbo actuator valves…
and still no joy, other engine keeps the parts and works fine.
I sometimes get a fault but it’s only a se operators manual (not shure how to interpret this)
did anyone have this problem?

Hi, funnily enough have similar issues.

The 1500 is the standard limp mode when the engine detects something off. I get warnings intermittently but there could be a few reasons. I know there are some exhaust issues in my case. Not sure if it needs an OBD fault reader to more details.

Could guess as to what is wrong, but get the codes read and you should be pointed in the right direction.

actually I found out how to retrieve codes on the ECV display.
It’s MID 128 SID 218…. sends me to main power relay… I think or suppose that it’s when the limp mode goes on it triggers this code (or not) I swapped both relays from other ECU box.. still same snag.
I actually swapped fuel pressure pumps also today… still the same…

hello,
all seams good, it starts perfect and idles perfect with no fault codes… it passes over 1500 rpm almost to 3000 and sometimes even more and then it starts studderiing… with no codes. code appears only if I leave throttle at high rpm and leave the engine spool/drop spool/drop… a few times.

Now I'm even more interested...

I also had restrictions and faults appear when I let off the throttle. I wondered about water entering from the exhaust before.

I understand your concens.
but the way my setup is, even with the bellows disconnected, whe waterline is about 20cm below.
and now I’m on dry dock 👍

Have you checked the negatives that are all sitting together on a post below the seawater pump/above the engine mount bracket?
At higher speeds the engine is obviously moving about a fair bit and a poor connection can momentarily make and break the circuit, causing power issues etc.

Take them all off, clean the post, make sure all are clean and secured to their respective ring terminal and refasten them all together and see how it goes

I will re-doo all terminal lugs and clean surfaces with emery wheel on a grinder re secure everything and re protect.
thanks for the heads-up

Have you checked that the fuel filter is really tight, they have an outer O ring and an inner O ring which is a little but thicker, so when you tighten up the inner one gets compressed first leaving the outer one not fully seated and under high revs it can pull in air which will give you the same symptons you describe. You really need to tighten them with a filter strap.

Hello, thanks for the tip.
both are fitted with filter straps.
funny thing is… is is started all od a sudden while at sea… I wvs coming close to port had started to decrease power setting to cool turbos. was at about 2000 rpm, then went down to 1000 ( just over idle) we were 4 on board, a friend sait « lets go watch the sunset of the cape (half mile away) so I pushed the throttles normally and then at about 2500-3000 rpm this happened one one engine
