after approx. one hour run at 1000rpm one caught fire an electrical fault has anyone else had a problem like this ?

contacted Towergate boat insurance no reply after 10 days is this normal ?

Not much info to go on, but an electrical fire can happen for multiple reasons. Engines catching fire is not common in any context, so you were just unlucky, or suffered a component failure.
Either way, it's an insurance matter with an engine of that size & complexity, not to mention the damage to the vessel & surrounding equipment.
