Volvo Penta D series - Low speed usage modification

Does anybody know if there are any modifications or tweaks that should be done to the D series range of engines when they are permanently used at low speeds on rivers?

I vaguely recall something and as I'm looking at a boat with twin IPS 500 that''s only used on the river I'd like to know if I imagined it.

I purchased an IPS 500 powered boat that had spent all its life on the Thames. We weren’t able to conduct proper sea trial of course so following a successful river trial, survey and engine check I agreed with the seller that I would hold back a proportion of the funds following completion pending a proper sea trial. As it happened and not unsurprisingly both engines overheated during the sea trial but the fix was relatively straight forward (cleaned out the heat exchangers etc) ( thanks to Volvo Paul) the boat had been more or less trouble free since then (two and a half years ago).
