Volvo Penta Control Spares

I have been trying to identify the rusty part! apart from falling to pieces it causes staining on the deck.

The Volvo catalogue does not show a similar control unit.
Any ideas (apart from making one - but I do not have the facilities here)

I'd expect that sort of question from a troll but your join date is 2008?

What is the "control unit" controlling or don't you have a clue? What design boat is it on? (Maybe Bavaria 44?)

Now we're talking!

I've got one of those in my back shed - it's blowing a gale right now and just about bed-time but I will look at it in the morning.

I'm trying to identify the make of your control unit. Maybe OP can identify it immediately but I can't see it here? Of course yours may not be original equipment?

Here is an eBay site for Volvo Penta engine controls. Can you see it here?

I'm sure some of us can solve the problem!

Sl3 ? Top mount single?
Should be simple to fabricate a replacement as it’s possibly not available on its one but may be part of single top mount fitting kit?
The control is designed to be either a twin which is 2 single modules or if it’s used as a single this part is a dummy to enable the single module to be top mounted

The aluminium bit inside (that you say works fine) is a standard Morse/Teleflex unit. There's a few different designs of those, but they all work the same way (for single-lever controls). The housings, attachments, levers, etc. vary, and production manufacturers often manufactured their own (as even they thought the cartel prices surrounding these units are insufferable). So it's likely the rusty bit is a Bavaria part, possibly no longer available (did you check Bavaria Plus/SVB?) and most likely easiest to make yourself anyways.

The control is probably a Lewmar unit as fitted to most Bavarias at the time, but as Yngmar says the mounting bracket could be a Bavaria part. However, worth contacting Lewmar in case it is made by them.
