I have just recenly purchased this boat to renovate and would like to clear up a few things in my head as this is the first inboard i have owned.I have been all over the net to try and get answers to my questions and hope there,s an expert out there that can help.I have always had outboards and learnt few things along the way but this is all new to me.I havn't started the engine yet as ive been ripping everything out to re-do it all and re -cover everything.
1st question Does the engine have to be running to move throttle lever backwards and forwards as i can't see any lock button on it? but won't move forwards or back.
2nd Are there any universal relays i can use for the tilt trim?
3rd what would be the best way of flushing and running the engine out of water? connect hose before water pump inside boat?
The boat is a selco 18ft volvo penta b20 ser AQ105A
Thanks for your time
Anthony

Yes the gear engagement is a sliding cone with an internal spiral so it is more likely to engage with the engine running ( with ignition key removed try turning the propeller and engaging gear it should slide in rev direction and gearselection to disengage)
The usual drive for the a q105 was the type 100 drive that did not have either a tilt nor trim a hydraulic ram in the tiller arm was an option to raise the drive generic relays should be ok .

I would put a bucket in the boat and draw water from that using hose to keep water in bucket
If you put the hose direct to the water pump the pressure will blow the pump seals .

You have an elderly lady so treat with care

Ps not certain but AQ105 may be B18 rather than B20

Yes 105/100 was early marinisation of B20

The owners manual is available on line from Volvo

Boat must be reaching the classic category now
