a few years back I had the seals fail in my VP 280 legs just weeks after a volvo main agent had replaced them. By then I was several hundred miles away and had to have them done again locally. The original engineers refused to stand by their work because I had "introduced the legs to a hostile environment" i.e. the sea. They argued that sand or seaweed must have caused the seals to fail and not their faulty workmanship. Arguments went on for ages until I eventually complained to Volvo themselves. To their credit they stepped in immediately and made their agents pay my second bill in full including lift out.
