Volvo Penta 5hp Outboard

I have a Volvo Penta 5hp Outboard which has been in storage for about 20 years.
I haven't tried to start it but wondered if the engine is a Volvo one or perhaps Tohatsu or Evinrude made it ?
And what would it be worth when it starts.

I think they were maybe made by Monark-Crescent. If you put it on eBay it may sell for £200-£300.

I've got one Dunno who it was made by but they were also badged Archimedes and Crescent
I used it for about 5 years but found it so temperamental that I replaced it with nice Evinrude, Which is still in good order and runs well after 30+ years/

It would start easily enough and it would idle for just about long enough to get the anchor in sight or cast off all the warps, Then it would stop and not restart until the plug was cleaned or replaced. Then it would run...... all day without missing a beat ........ until I approached a mooring , marina or anchorage then it would stop again. I was going to experiment with different plugs but I opted to pension it off. Apart from a brief period when I lent it to a friend ( how to nearly lose a friend!) it been gathering dust in amongst the cobwebs and the rats in a corner of the garage.

By contrast I believe its smaller, 3.9. sister was quite a reliable machine.

It'll be interesting if you can get 200 to 300 for it .

I would have said £ 100 to £150 is a more realistic price IMO
