I have a 2003 Glastron GX185 with about 380 hours on the Volvo Penta 4.3GL. Oil change, new oil filter and new fuel filter. Have put maybe 10 hours on the engine after the changes with no issues what so ever.

I brought it out yesterday and everything was good for about an hour and then stopped to lay out for a bit. When I tried to start the boat, it turned over, ran for a few seconds, and then quit. Tried restarting with no success.

I opened the cover up and let the engine sit for 5 minutes, tried starting again and everything went pretty decent. It turned over and made it back to the dock (about a 30 minute ride). When running, I noticed there was some power loss. I can typically get up on plane at about 2600 rpm and run at about 22mph. After this issue, I needed to stay above 3000 rpm and was hovering right around 20mph.

Im not sure where to start troubleshooting or if it is something I should be concerned about. Mechanically, no obvoius noise differences and the prop is looking great.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Nothing that I could see when pulling the boat out. The engine not starting along with the sudden performace loss after getting it raised that red flag. I will be taking a better look tomorrow. When we did stop the boat, we were in about 80 foot deep waters so something getting caught would be a bit harder.
