I'm replacing sleeves and injectors on my Volvo Penta 2003T. The 'nozzles' on the new sleeves provided are about 1.0mm too narrow for the injectors. The suppliers are in contact with VP but at the moment we have no sensible answer to this problem. Has anyone else encountered this?

Is there a Volvo tool to expand the copper sleeves in position in the cylinder head? If my memory serves this is what seals the water from leaking into the cylinders- not on the PC here so cannot check the workshop manual!

Edit.. See above!

We have all the VP tools and fitted and 'expanded' the first sleeve. Only then realised that the injector wouldn't fit and also wouldn't fit in new sleeve out of the head although it WILL fit in old sleeve! So it seems to be an injector specification problem.

Thanks. that's helpful and worth following up although there's no reason (apart from the mis-fit!) for thinking that our sleeves weren't the correct ones relating to both engine number and batch number.

Scottie - we have the manual and we've read it avidly! It don't help ...... read my post: the nozzles on the sleeves are too narrow to take the injector! Neither manual or tools have helped with that .... hence my post.

As It is the flaring tool that determines the final dimension of the sleeve at the nozzle I would have another look at where you are .

Did you ever solve this??? I have exact same problem and I've used the correct mandrel and parts on a KAD32. I'd love to know if they need flaring & what tool you use.
