Does anyone know why part number 851983 was replaced by 876286. Its the same size but did the composition change? Am I OK to fit the earlier version to a 120SD? Thanks
I originally had a 120SE fitted with an 876286. This was replaced with a secondhand 120SD when the clutch failed and this was fitted with a 851983 (which I still have and it has the part number stamped on it). Last year I fitted a 876286 but when I ordered another this year I received an "old stock" 851983. Visually its identical to the 876286 and if you go down the non OEM route they typically list both VP part numbers under the same listing. So was this just a VP part number change or a change in the composition, presumably for a reason?
Edit: the non OEM versions tend to have a slightly thinner outer flange and weigh about 100g less which is why I prefer to fit a VP version
No Volvo stamp a number on the casting but market it in a box and possibly an O ring so It becomes an kit and a new number beginning 87#####
This also happens with impellers
Gasket sets of Penta origin start 875 later 876 an eventuality 387
Kits beginning 275 were Volvo components
I must admit that previously I didn't check the part number stamped on the casting when I removed it from the box marked 876286 and the new "old stock" version I have just received has 876286 on the box but 851983 stamped on the anode. It must be the all important screws rattling around in there that turn it into an 87....Thanks!
