Hi Folks,
I am looking at a boat with the above engine. Unfortunately the friends of Ali Baba nicked the turbo charger and the super charger :-(.
Question now is whether the engine will (perhaps with a few modifications, tricks and tips) run also without that.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

I guess that running the engine at the lower end of the rev range wouldn't be a problem per se but given that both bits of kit are about developing more power in certain rev ranges then the boat will never perform as intended. Replacing both would be my first choice.
 
Ok, thanks the suggestion on the exhaust is of course noted though was obvious.
What I am after is: The engine, so I was told, was sold at the time naturally aspirated, with turbo charger or with turbo and super charger.
Being not interested in the extra HP the question is whether any other thing needs to be considered if I want to run this previous turbo and
supercharged beast in natural aspirated mode. Thanks :-)
 
I have KAD42's. When I got the boat the superchargers were disengaged (no belt) and running C3 props. She was fine throughout the rev range and did not need the turbo. When I put C4 props on she needed the superchargers to get on the plane but still these props cannot soak up the power of the turbos.
I am no mechanic but I understand from the web that without these boost devices you may have to look at the pump to ensure you are not over fuelling in the boost ranges.
 
The KAMD/KAD engines were never naturally aspirated...they were a development of the AD41 and as far as I know that always had a turbo. As already mentioned, my understanding is that there may be an issue with fuel supply linked to the supercharger and turbo.
 
The supercharger belt missing is not the same as the supercharger and turbo removed.
With the supercharger belt missing the turbo still works but will be slower to get going.
The previous AD41 has the turbo but no supercharger.
