Good evening ladies and gentlemen of this forum,
Does anyone know the timing setting for the diesel pump
On a Volvo penga Aqad41a?? I have searched the good old interweb
But can't find a setting! I seem to recal finding something, somewhere
That stated 1.9 btdc but not 100% sure!!
Many thanks

On a 41 it's not degrees Btdc that determines the timing, but plunger lift at Tdc that is critical. I have the specs on my laptop so will post them later, but you will need the locking tool which locks the flywheel at Tdc and a dial gauge to fit in the end of the pump.

Hi volvopaul, they smoke just as they should do on start up:encouragement: it's when underway I have an issue, not quite getting to full rpm on the port engine, around 300-400 rpm short and dark grey coloured exhaust smoke.
Lots of black smoke when getting up on plane as well. The starboard engine is fine. Had the port motor injectors overhauled and the smoke is slightly better, just want to eliminate as many things as possible before having the turbo looked at although the turbo looks fine, no play and all blades look in good condition

I can't find an aqad41a in my Volvo pump timing list, but all the common 41 variants lie between 1.60 and 1.80mm plunger lift at TDC. And I reckon a drill bit or similar will work OK to lock the flywheel, it might make it a two man job as the Volvo tool is spring loaded so it clicks into place as you reach TDC, so some one may have to apply pressure to the bit so it engages at the right spot.
