So, I got my self positioned to change a defective oil pressure warning light/ buzzer sensor but i am a bit lost.

On the Tamd61a there are 2 sensors I believe, one for pressure gauge and one for pressure warning.

I bought the following sensor

The part number is 863169

One looking at the engine I found this

If I'm right, the big one on the right is for the gauge and the small one behind is the one I'm after. The current one though has 2 spade connectors with a pair of wires going to each spade.

This looks different from the exploded diagrams I have seen on line and very different to the new part I have in my hand. To be honest, the new part in the first picture is much bigger and I can't see how it will fit.

Have I got the right part and am I looking at the right thing!!

This is on the starboard side of the engine by the way above what I think is the bypass oil assembly (not that I can find the bypass filter?)

The parts also look like coolant sensors in the exploded diagrams i have seen online so I am very confused!

The diagram below from your owners manual would seem to confirm that you are looking at the right component.

The wiring diagram in your manual indicates that the oil pressure switch has two black wires on one terminal and a blue& white wire on the other... Maybe you can scrape away a little green paint to doubly confirm

The official parts list and Keypart's website confirms the part number

The offial parts list though does show some additional wiring #10 at http://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-explodedview-7746650-30-1629.aspx

Thanks very much for the replies. I will order the lead. I'm just not sure the new one will fit next to the gauge sender. We shall see!!

I had to replace the switch sender on my Stbd TAMD60C on my Turbo 36. I simply could not get to the original so instead I fitted a new switch into a blanking plug hole on the head of the oil filter. I used an isolated pressure switch from RS set, I think, to 18psi. It worked just fine.

Thanks trevor. I have found i also need a brass adapter so will have a go and putting it in its original spot as thankfully access is easy as its to port engine. If it was the starboard one, id be knackered!!

To finish this thread off and for anyone having the same issue I successfully fitted the new oil sensor/ alarm gauge and you need the sensor, adapter and wiring harness parts. It is a very tight fit next to the other sensor but does fit.

Thanks to all for their input. All is now working again!
