Volvo MD5B - Advice Please

Hi,

I am going to be replacing an existing MD5B with a Beta 14 this autumn and was wondering if there is any demand for these engines or should I break for spares. I have searched the forum and found a post from 2011 on the same subject but was wondering if anything has changed in the last 11 years.

Can't really find out much more info online and don't personally know any other boats with this engine in, so thought this would be the best place to ask the question.

You could put it on Boats and Outboards or similar, someone might want it. However if you are prepared to break it for parts, it will take longer to sell everything, but you should get a larger sum.

It’s an unusual configuration in that it’s a large front end flywheel and inclined block and particularly suited to flat hulled boats that had the engine under the cockpit similar to the yanmar YS range but at its age few people would chose for a new installation
spares are probably in short supply bearing in mind that it is not a Volvo unit as such but I believe a Norwegian sabb ?????
make it cheap enough and someone might be interested as a spare unit

Put it on eBay , that’s what I did with a old md7 , some guy came along and took it for a canal boat
