Having just had to replace a relay for the glow plugs on our MD2020 engine (twice in the past 6 months - I suspect a faulty replacement first time round), I would like to source a spare - without paying Volvo's optimistic prices! The relay that has just been replaced is a Hella 12v 4RA 007 791-01 - for which I can find no information via Google. I suspect that I can buy a relay for a fraction of the price from the likes of RS - but I need to know the specification.

From the research I have done to date I think it's a 12v SPNO configuration with a resistor incorporated - but I don't know the current spec.

Can anyone help with the spec and possible sources for the part?

Thanks

it appears this is a 70 amp relay and it could be worth checking out the various auto spares distributors in your area who supply parts to the smaller garages and workshops. also Halfords.

Is it this?

Interesting - my relay only has four contacts - which, I think, makes it an SPNO configuration. I have just had a chat with my friendly local RS Components trade counter - teh best we coudl come up with was RS Stock No. 535-2564 Manufacturer Tyco Electronics Manufacturers Part No. V23134J0052D642

This is a 50A item - and your is 20 / 30A - so it ought to be OK. Also given that the glowplugs draw 6.9A each -a total of ~21A I would have thought 50A wouldn't be a problem. Also at £4 each it's worth a punt!

Not sure why yours is 5 contact (SPDT?) - just to confuse us punters?

Thanks for the feedback though.
