OK so the mechanical connection between the front and back of my Volvo MD11C's ignition switch (the thing you stick your kry in) has coroded and I am struggling to source with any confidence a new part. Anyone got any suggestions as to a non-marine equivalent partor even one hangin around in a 10 year old bucket marked spares??? The latter would be nice otherwise it's a trip to Dickies with £80 in my back pocket.

Other suggestions considered..

Thanks (as this is wrecking my August sailing!!)

Tony

I would have thought that any make of diesel starter switch would do the job.

Have you someone like Lucas or your local tractor repair shop?

Agreed. Lucas do a range of keyed ignition switches including diesel ones (preheat position). There might be something in their range to suit.

I have a complete new switch as fitted to Volvo panels with key that you can have for £20 plus postage, any help?
Gosport area.

Chucked my corroded switch away, & fitted an ordinary low voltage switch with a waterproof gaiter as the on/off and a press button for the 'start' - all less than £4 and still going strong 10 years on.

Thanks all, sourced a new one, the reason I was struggling to get it is they had changed the part completely (and I'm not much good at boat improv) if it doesnt work I might be coming back to the one for £20 though. Know on Sunday,
