Hi I am just after a simple answer - if my leg trim is at -4 and the boat is hardly moving, are the props pointing up to the sky? When I had the handover of my boat the broker advised that -4 was perfect for the boat and I am assuming this is at speed to keep the leg at the correct angle when the bow is lifted.

Many Thanks in advance
Jon

Thank you jimmy - as you have probably guessed it is my first boat and mooring up has been a bit difficult - and while I was waiting for my flight to work I thought if it was the trim slightly hindering me as the boat didn't seem quite responsive

Thanks again
Jon

I'm no expert, but I don't think leg trim makes any difference at mooring speeds.

-4 is the setting I often use in the Solent to help keep the bow down when it's a bit choppy, as we've only a 7m jeanneau too, but the open top version (a Leader 705).

We also found mooring a little fraught with just a single duo prop engine, especially in blustery conditions when the bow was easily taken by the wind, so have had a bow thruster fitted this season. Not cheap, but definitely worth it, as anxiety levels have dropped significantly just knowing it's there if we need it, so we enjoy our boating more.

My leg is kept on lowest setting all the time mooring/cruising/flat out, only time it comes up is to remove the prop.
Single engine stern drive and wind deep joy during mooring!

Thank you for the replies.
I have thought about a bow thruster but I want to learn the craft (without sounding stubborn or penny-pinching) as much as I can. I have been looking at which way the tide and wind is going - providing they are opposite I will sail out just to give me an easier chance to Moor up on my return.
On the bow thruster point - I am a bit warey about someone cutting through the bow - I looked at a Bavaria in Lowestoft that had a bow thruster added and under the Fwd berth the grp around the tunnel wasn't very thick and water had ingressed inside.

Thanks for the replies
Jon
