Volvo kad32 overheating ??

Just a quick update
As mentioned in a previous thread my throttle control doesn't Rev out of gear and this is another situation where I could do with heating the engine whilst in the mooring, so after a carry on getting the correct one it eventually turned up last week from America. We tried to swap it over Friday night and the tube on the gear cable has come away so today's mission is to swap the gear cable and fit the new control.

As regards the overheating, it looks like there is coolent coming from the water pump, it seems to be dripping from the little hole in the bottom of it suggesting this is the problem, it looses water much faster when the engine is cold compared to when the engine was hot the day it first happened, if we can sort out the throttle control today then I can see if that theory is correct by getting the engine warm, or it maybe the problem has just got worse, either way a new water pump is looking likely.

Thanks for your help so far

That hole is called the tell tale and if its wet the pump has had it, some do weep a little but even then its the beginning of the end for the pump.

Looks like it's going to be a biggish job to get to the pump, not much room to get around the engine, it's been "shoe horned" in when converted from petrol!!
