Volvo kad32 cooling system ??

A couple of weeks ago I put some neat antifreeze into the raw water cooled bit on my kad 32 and turned over the engine and topped it up again with more antifreeze, I did this just to get it run through the system whilst it was moored up as I new I couldn't get it out of the water to winterise it properly until this week, just incase we got any heavy frost for peace of mind I new it had antifreeze in it.
I have today taken it out and trailered it.
After letting the engine warm up for a couple of minutes I took it down river a couple of hundred yards to the slipway. After getting it back in the yard I put the leg back down (so it wasn't stuck up for people to walk into) and I noticed the water coming out of it still had antifreeze in it.
I would of thought all of the antifreeze would of flushed through the system in the 5 minutes the engine was running in the river????
Is there some sort of thermostat that only makes it pump water when it gets to a certain temperature like in a car as someone suggested at the boat club????
I think with my limited knowledge it's probably more likely to be the impeller, which I hope to have a look at this week????

Any other thoughts or ideas why the water still had antifreeze in after 5 minutes of running would be greatly appreciated. The belts are all ok and the temperature reached 90 on the gauge on the dash.
Just out of interest, what should the warmed up temperature of a kad32 be?

Sounds like you had an airlock from when you added antifreeze, had you of run much longer the alarm would probably have sounded, check condition of impeller and exhaust rubber hose.
 
Whenever you have had the raw water strainer lid off ,or when the boat has been lifted out and you have put the boat in the water its best to take the lid off the raw water strainer and fill up the strainer with water and quickly replace the plastic disc and the lid to ensure there is no significant air pocket.
If you don't do this there may well be no problem. But on occasions the pump may fail to work as it did in your example.
