Volvo Green Paint

I got some from Keypart not sure how much it cost, but you can also get it from here Aquapart .

Some Halfords branches can match paint samples and mix up an aerosol or touch up, might be worth chipping a bit off and seeing if they can match it. They have a book of paint colours that you can compare it with.

If I remember rightly, there was a thread last year on here suggesting a Hammerite product that was a very close colour match to the Volvo. Not sure how it would compare on price though.

<edit> Have a look HERE for a colour/paint guide which might help. T'is an American website, but should give you the info...... I'm pretty sure the one suggested was avble to be used directly onto rust, so little or no surface prep was needed.

I took a note of the colour when it was mentioned in a thread some time ago. The colour is Hammerite "Wild Sage" from the "Garden Metal Shade Range". I believe that Ford "Meadow Green" is also a good match.

do we have to pay VP prices for the correct paint.

[/ QUOTE ] Of course you dont! I smartened up an old MD11 in a friends boat a few years ago and repainted the whole of one side with some Hammerite (Well the smooth one IIRC) that I had handy. Its not a good match but it's green.

It only a bl**dy engine for heavens sake, not a priceless work of art!

Most important thing is to get rid of ALL the rust.

Thank you all for your ideas...... a trip to halfords in gosport is on the cards in the morning ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif that's if the boat has not blown away tonight /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Why not paint it red, or yellow or......................Then you wouldn't have the shame of admitting its a V*l*o when the bloody thing smokes or doesn't start. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is one time where I think it worth while to have the right stuff - the Volvo paint does stay on the job and keep the engine looking mint. A small touchup tube from Keypart of Kings Langley will be a great Crimbo pressy for your beloved!

I have used Hammerite where water escapes from the intake pump. It works of course, but not better than the Volvo touchup paint.

Nicely put Vic. Couldn't have said it better. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wonder why Volvo prices in the UK are expensive? I can buy genuine red/green Volvo spray cans for 6 euros, I dont think that is expensive, what price is it in the UK?

Cos people in the UK can afford to pay more - marketing you see. If we were as poor as the Greeks we would get cheaper paint. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

probably the question should be directed to the OFT - assuming the government lawyers in there would deign to talk to you.

All Volvo parts, oil and the rest, and noticeably cheaper on the Continent, even with their higher VAT rates! Worth building a list and sparing half an hour when you next sweep over there on a booze cruise!

PS. Engine oil is a better deal there on average too!
