Good Morning Forumites,

Have seen numerous posts on here regarding how dire the V/P helm controls are... thinking about my own throttle it seems ok, but not as smooth as i would ideally like it, albeit better than the one on my older boat.

Is there a great deal of difference between say the V/P and Morse or other selectors? and is it worth considering changing it for one of those?

Thanks,

Craig.

<font color=blue>You cannot be good old Morse controls, Volvo's, BMW's, all of them don't hold a candle to Morse. If you or anyone else want some dual Volvo controls I will let you have a set cheap... I changed to Morse and well pleased I did.

But I've only had one little problem with the V+££=? ones, and soon mended that with a file.

without doubt morse is best & their top grade cable is worth every penny., especially for throttle cables.

For those with quiet instalations, the rubber grommet kit for the gearbox bracket is good value as well for stopping he transmission of noise up the cables to the helm.

Re: rubber grommet

ooh tell me about them. I have a lot of tickety tickety racket up the cables. Is the grommety bit on the helm end or the gearbox end? and will i be able to do it without ow! and swearing! and three hours fiddling ...and then getting a bloke to do it whilst I tell lies to swmbo about serious prob i have discovered with boat to hide the fact that i have busted things again?

Re: rubber grommet

Easy to fit, is a bracket 2grommetts & various washers.

A job even my Dad could do.

Fitting time

locate bits |&b remove old ...10 min

fit new bits 15min

testing 5 min

R&R testing ring pull 2 hrs

custs were about £15 per side if I remember correctly
