Volvo EVC engine data Question

I've a D4-260A-B with EVC-C that I'd like to get instant Fuel Flow data for (and MPG if possible) on the system tach. So I read it then that the system needs to the Trip Computer Update - I'm assuming mine has not had the update - as I don't see any data for fuel on the system tach.

Andy, Could you also check for me to see if my system has the Trip Computer Upgrade enabled - my serial no. is 2004014192 ?

Do you know how much the upgrade is / is it a simple process?

When I had mine updated it took about 90 mins. I would find other work for the engineer to do on the boat whilst he is there as the human involvement is about 10 min the rest is a slow slow vodia tool. I think the update is free, you just pay for the labour. In Mallorca this was euro 50 which is the going rate for any favour type job

Hi-no you don't have it activated yet, although all of your software is up to date, so loading it to your engine would be very quick. The next post after yours was right, as other than pressing play & turning the power on & off when required, programming updates goes as quick as it wants to. For upgrades such as Trip Computer, if loaded at the same time as updates, will take the same amount of time. If there are no updates, then the upgrades literally whizz through.

From memory the Trip Computer is about £350 or £390 plus VAT per engine, and in your case, I'd suggest around half an hour onboard, because it's all the latest version available. If there were updates required I'd suggest 1 to 1 & 1/2 hrs onboard.

Thanks Andy, that's very useful info. Now all I need to do is calculate if I will save £390 + VAT equivalent in fuel if I get the Trip Computer S/W installed (and drive more sensibly)!

Cheers
Kenny.
