Volvo EDC Throttle Control - Dimming the lights

Does anyone know if it's possible to dim the indications on the Volvo EDC control panel (the one with the key button to take control, the D, the N and the = buttons).
We have found that the blue light seems to be super bright at night and short of some duct tape can be a bit of a distraction.

There are different software versions but on all the ones I've tried the answer is no. You can dim the dash gauges, but not the LEDs in the EVC/EDC panel. So duck tape is the answer. You could take the blue light out or paint it matt black, as it serves little purpose, and indeed it has been deleted completely from the latest EVC panels

As already mentioned they are LED's. Had a look at the wiring diagram, could you not fit a switch to turn the background light off at night whilst leaving the other 3 yellow/red /green LED's on, or if really clever change the resistor fitted to the LED to make it permantly dim if that's what you would like.

Theoretically possible, but it's all PCB mounted so quite tricky to do!

I have some irritating LED's on a piece of electronics. I found a dab of tippex made them bearable.
