Hello

Can you help please?
I have a Sunseeker Portofino 375 which has Volvo Kad 42's and had from new Alloy B5 props. I was struggling getting up on the plane with weight so took advice and got some stainless C4's. I am now again struggling getting up.

I am going to lift her in the morning to take a look underneath and check that props are ok. then i think i should try changing props (not tomorrow) any ideas which props to try?

Paul at Costal Rides suggested B4's but said would lower top speed - i cant do that!

Please help

Can't help with the prop selection but I think it will always be a compromise between acceleration and top end. You could give Streamlined Propellers in Aldershot a call, I've always found him very helpful.

If you do decide that the C4s aren't for you then I may be interested in taking them off your hands.

B5 and Sessa 35

Currently I've got one set of Powertech in to their third season and one set of Michigans on their first season. These do seem a good match to our boat, very quick on to the plane, despite all the junk we carry and still manage to pull 3900 rpm WOT (KAD43) with full tanks.

They stay on and then cut out once at high speed (once on the plane). I see where you are thinking as once the supercharger speed controller unit broke on the port side and i needed to replace it.

Sounds impressive. What is the dry weight of your Sessa 35? as the Portofino 375 was build fairly heavy at 8 tons dry and 12 ton loaded. Also Kad 42's & Kad 43's are the same engine - 43's have a better coolant direction around the engine which helps and few other small items.

In general the latest news is that she was lifted yesterday cleaned down and relaunched, all was fine in the props area and once re-launched, see then went well, did 34 knots (cant say what revs due to a nice new electrical problem in the dashboard area, we wont go into this just for now)! But will say Im not out of the woods just yet as there was only 4 of us onboard and think that as soon as she gets dirty on the hull again and add the weight of 10 (8+2) people back the problems of get up on to the plane will return.

Im still thinking that changing props will help, but not sure which ones to try!
I also think that making the max charter group of (6+2) will be a major key to success along with a weight clearance of locker **** will also help.

Any other thoughts?

Roy
