Finally there has been a recall on certain drive batch numbers around 2010 build era, I'm sure if anyone has suspicions about leaking dph drive rams contact your dealer with your serial numbers to find out if your lucky enough for help, I'm sure Volvo won't be writing to each individual owner so here is some help, I was told this from another very helpful minded forum member. Good luck, I will try and find more info when I get a chance to speak to the horses mouth as they say.

sp have you had to foot the bill every time or was it in warranty? If you have paid out then I'd be seeking some ££££ back as there has always been clearly a design flaw from the start.

You only have to look at the trim rams on any Volvo drive they take years to corrode away yet there literally inches from the steering rams, yet the steering rams are absolute pants! I'm embarrassed when I have to tell customers they need new rams especially at that price.

VP, does this now mean that Volvo drives are now an acceptable solution? There appear to be more cruisers built with these, in order to liberate space for cabins etc.

You can get seals from a hydraulic supplier for about 30euros. I have been fitting these for years, they tend to last the same or longer than new Volvo rams.

The next problem is the power steering pump failing. This is just the valve sticking open it can easily be freed off and work again with new fluid in the system.

Hi Tom, the last pump I head of failing literally dumped all the fluid out the front seal of the pump shaft, requiring a new pump, yes ive head about water seizing the relief valve open.
