I machined up a drift in steel with a nose on it which fits the hole in the pin to align it and hold it central so no danger of damaging aluminium casting, a few blows with a hammer knocks it inwards, and if the last mechanic did the job properly and used waterproof grease they will slide out easily, I always clean them with 3M scrub pad or similar. And on refitting don't risk your fingers to check if the holes are aligned, I use two 1/2" socket set extensions as temporary hinge pins and to take the weight, juggle the drive around until its pretty close then pull out one extension and fine tune alignment with a screwdriver and refit the pin, then repeat with other side. Don't use your fingers to check the H frame is lined up with the transom on a drive weighing over 70 kg!
