Have you been given a formal quote which includes the p/n and price they are suggesting they are going to sell it for?

Here the quote - it's from a volvo authorized dealer in Singapore. Just labour + trip computer + transport comes to around 3,766 SGD which would be 2850 USD or 2550 Euro.

My Engine numbers are attached - if someone want to quote me standard European prices I could take it to the dealer

And because for one of the other vendors the 6000 SGD quoted was not enough, he determined such software upgrades easily should be worth another 1000+ USD and quoted 7,600 SGD.

Wow! A day plus travel to load the software upgrades which would take around 1 minute per software feature once the computer is connected, or circa 1/2 to 1hr if there were routine software updates to apply as well...
The Trip Computer & PTA features are £535 inc. taxes each in the UK, so for the software side of things you'd be looking at a total of £2,141.
Even allowing half a day's labour (which would likely be massively excessive) then you'd be looking at around £2,500 inc. taxes for an installed price for both software features on both engines.
Obviously I'm not out there so I don't know the pricing they are being given but I very much doubt it's that much more than we get here in the UK

I could get a direct flight to Singapore, charge you full retail for the software, sell you 10hrs labour (1hr to do the software upload and 9hrs to sit on a beach) & then fly home, and your bill would still be less than $7600!

EDIT: just spotted that this is priced in Singapore Dollars and so perhaps return flights included wouldn't work out cheaper, but 7600 SGD is still around £4,430 and so still a lot given the likely amount of work and the software price
