Volvo D4 pencil anodes

When changing the two pencil anodes on my Volvo D4 engine, I sometimes get a small drip of sea water leaking past the tapered thread of the anode holder, so would it be OK to use a small amount on thread tape on the thread of the anode holder, or should the thread be left bare to ensure electrical continuity between the anode and the cooler cover?

Take care not to isolate from the protected component it by using tape, I usually put a very small bead of Clesetite on the last couple of threads.

Put copper slip (copper grease) on the threads.
