Volvo D4-300 -2008 2300rpm max revs problem

Hi, my friend Volvo D4-300 is not taking revs above 2300rpm. Boost pressure on the rev counter display show variable values between 50-120kpa.

Fuel line is checked with all filters changed and clean. Air filter is clean also.

Can the cause be a failed charger air pressure/air temperature sensor?

Any ideas?

My very first question would be, what state is the hull in? Even bad slime can drag the speed, and thus revs, back massively.

Hi, the hull is in very clean condition as the stern drive also. Boat and engine is used only in fresh water.

Most likey your boost/temperature sensor has failed giving a high temp value, which causes the fuel delivery to be cut.
