Who is the manufacturer of these engines?

Which other engine "maker" uses these basis motors?

Which is cheapest? Volvo would probably offer a simple bolt in using the same bed and engine mounts.....

:(:( Thinking or remotoring... :(:(

Its made by Perkins in peterborough. Was originally the engine in the Leyland Montego. Don't think anybody else marinises it.

Volvo D2 are Perkins OK but I am fairly sure they are made in Japan. From a fitting point of view I do not think they have much in common with earlier Volvos, certainly seem very different from the 2000 series. So if ease of fitting is the motivation for choosing Volvo it may not work out much better than another make. I have a D2-30 which I regard as a very good engine, pity it has Volvo paint on it.

I did not think the D2 was a Perkins. The max RPM of the MD22 and TMD 22 is 3900-4200 whereas the D2 is only 3000 rpm.

Shibaura.... havd not heard much form them. Will search the net..

I have a D2-55. It is quite possible that the main part of the engine is made in Japan but Perkins are certainly involved somewhere. There is a large Perkins label at the back of my engine under the exhaust manifold. Its not easy to see!

Japan or Peterborough

My D2-30 has a similar hard to see Perkins label, but if you read it through it seems to have been stuck on in Japan. I am not concerned though as I have high regard for Japanese engineering.
