I have one of these engines and having fitted some temporary mounts for this season it does run as a very 'vibraty' engine, so l want to find some softer versions for next year. Does anyone know of any alternatives to the mighty expensive Volvo ones?

Robush sell the Metalastik Cushyfloat ones that Volvo use at considerably less cost but you need to get the correct thread (assuming that you will be using Volvo bolts). I can’t remember whether it is the course or fine thread that you will need.

Anti Vibration Solutions, Mounts & Components

Similar ones are supplied by Vetus but I don’t know whether the bolt holes match?

What Shore Factor are you thinking of going with?

I have one of these engines fitted. Interestingly when I bought the boat one of the mounts had 'gone' and the whole unit shook like a shaky thing. I didn't consider having a non-volvo mount fitted. 12 yrs later and she still runs sweet as a sweet thing. Save money on consumables perhaps but are engine mounts really consumables ?. Just my thoughts ............

Shore factor!? Is that the squidginish?

No idea. I am talking to Robush.
There was an an article in one of the sailing mags a few months back where the owner of a Dufour 385 replaced his mounts with ones that had a lower Shore Number. He felt the engine ran more smoothly as a result.

We went the other way with harder mounts and it was better, the original were squashy Yanmar ones though

They say they do not make like for like replacements but one of their cushyfloats would work......

I think l will send them ones of the old ones and see what they suggest. I couldn't see any numbers on my current mounts.....
