Volvo Cooling Hose

Does anyone know a stockist for the transparent (PVC?) 19 mm id helical steel reinforced cooling hose in the Solent area. This hose is used as original equipment by Volvo for the sea water cooling circuit on their engines. A second question is why use a 19 mm id hose when there is a 13 mm constrictor just before the heat exchanger?

Not standard on a VP 2003 type engine. I used radiator hose as used in cars. It doesn't get hot anyway and there isn't any more pressure than in a car. And it is not expensive and easily obtainable.

The problem with radiator hose is that the bit twix intake and pump is under vacuum and if the filter's a bit blocked apparently the pipe can collapse.

Having said that the pipe on mine is looks suspiciously car-like and hasn't collapsed yet...

OK - I did only use it the engine side of the pump. The sea end is also black rubber and of small dimension (16mm I think) so I can't see that collapsing under the kind of vacuum an impeller would generate.
