There was a post a while back on this subject.
At the time, when I thought ours were ok of course, I didnt take a lot of notice, but think I remember some enterprizing concern having sourced some stainless fabricated ones in USA. If anybody has been successful in commiting such a crime, or indeed can advise how to carry out such an offence, would they please either post or pm me? Thanks. Paul.

I bought an elbow for a TAMD 71b from an outfit in the US.

Take a look at marinepartsexpress.com

I telephoned and spoke to a very helpful chap called
JD Neeson.

They ship a lot of stuff to Europe.

There was no import duty, and the shipping note can be a bit blurred to help with the vat

I saved over £400, and it was delivered in 4 days.

Hi Dave,

thank you very much for that info.
If I find the correct part, I will of course give the opportunity for a local Volvo dealer to match the price so as to be fair, but wont hold my breath.

You saved £400, well that is significant, in fact its 294 galls of diesel bought on the Hamble. Good luck for more sensible purchases.

Cheers, Paul

Westend Marine in Wakefield can fabricate such risers.

So can the place I work, Fabricom, and I had a stainless riser manufactured here for a BMW engine. We went to the trouble of fabricating it with a full water jacket, however most of the pattern alternatives do away with the water jacket, thus you have to re-route the exhaust water.

We could quote for doing one if you were really stuck, although since we're normally building chemical plants and refineries, we would tend to be a bit pricey for such a small job, and I'm sure there are many small stainless fabricators than could copy the part for a fraction of the official price.

Martin, Thank you for your positive response it is appreciated.

I have now placed an order with a North American Co who have offered a saving of £600 on the parts I need. I sent e-mails to two UK companies. After four days neither had responded, so I ordered from USA. If I treated my customers like that our Company would be out of business.

Stainless fabrication is a trade worth shouting about and I will note your contact details, Thanks again. Paul
